I came across this fun article today about the world's most expensive desserts. (Feb. 14, 2008 - Forbes Traveler) www.forbestraveler.com/food-drink/expensive-desserts-story.html Strawberries Arnaud take the cake!
There is a 90-year old restaurant in New Orleans' French Quarter named Arnaud's where they are serving what appears to be a regular bowl of sliced strawberries. However, this dessert is garnished with a one-of-a-kind 4.7-carat pink diamond ring, said to have belonged to the famous English financier Sir Ernest Cassel. It’s accompanied by white-gloved waiters pouring rare port from a $24,850 Charles X crystal cave liqueur set—compliments of the chef!—in the presence of a jazz ensemble. Pretty outrageous- but a dessert I could definitely go for! At 1.4 million, this is easily the planet's most expensive dessert.
